Best Best & Krieger LLP. Reviews

Advice to law firm management: Great firm for high powered DC type people. If you like the government than this is the place for you. Great place to be and be part of the scene.

Pros: I am from a high powered law school and wanted to work for a high powered DC based firm. This one was perfect. The clients are all government based and provide many high profile lobbying clients. I have worked on many national cases and really find the culture at the firm great. There is ample opportunity to move up in the ranks. It also is great for networking with DC people.

Cons: The firm is solely in DC and California which can be a problem if you want to work somewhere else. But the pros really outweigh the cons since the cases takes place everywhere.

Summer associate program

We currently visit nine California law schools: Loyola, McGeorge, Pepperdine, UCLA, UC Davis, UC Hastings, UC Irvine, USC, and University of San Diego. Applications from students attending other law schools are also considered each Fall.

Selected applicants are invited to participate in our weekend callback program, which includes an evening dinner with members of the Recruiting Committee, followed by a full day of interviewing at the firm. Our unique callback interviewing process gives both students and members of the firm substantive and meaningful opportunity to evaluate one another.

Our summer program is designed to give law students both a representative sampling of our firm's diverse practice and the opportunity to get to know the attorneys in our firm.

We consider legal research and writing to be an important part of our summer program, but we also emphasize the inclusion of summer associates in such activities as client meetings, courtroom practice, public agency hearings and city council meetings. Another aim of our summer program is to acquaint summer associates with the cultural and recreational activities available in the general area. The firm hosts a variety of both formal and informal social events throughout the summer that provide participants with the opportunity to get to know our lawyers and their families.

BB&K has been successful in utilizing its summer program as our primary source for new associates. Each summer associate is assigned two mentors who help orient the summer associate to the firm's practices. We conduct an individual in-person mid-summer review for each summer associate to dialogue with the student regarding his or her progress. Work assignments are carefully coordinated to ensure that work is evenly distributed and that summer associates work with as many attorneys as possible on a variety of matters. Assigning attorneys commonly provide constructive feedback on individual assignments.

I came back to LawCrossing to search through the listings in my new job search because I had been able to get my last 2 jobs through using the site. I love the search capacity and filters. This is a very valuable service.
