Job Overview:
A well-established law firm is seeking a highly skilled Data Privacy and Cybersecurity Associate Attorney with 5-7 years of experience to join its growing team. This is a great opportunity for a dynamic attorney with expertise in privacy-related litigation and transactional work. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of state and federal privacy laws and regulations, including CCPA, GLBA, HIPAA, and more, as well as experience in managing breach response and compliance counseling. Location:

  • Minneapolis, MN

Duties:

  • Provide legal counsel on data privacy and cybersecurity issues
  • Handle privacy-related litigation, including class action cases
  • Draft, negotiate, and review vendor and customer service agreements
  • Lead breach response efforts and offer compliance counseling
  • Ensure adherence to state and federal privacy laws, including CCPA, GLBA, and HIPAA
  • Manage risk management processes related to privacy and cybersecurity
  • Collaborate with partners and clients on privacy and cybersecurity strategies
  • Participate in professional development and thought leadership activities in the field of data privacy

Requirements:

  • 5-7 years of experience in data privacy and cybersecurity law
  • Strong background in privacy litigation, especially class action cases
  • Significant transactional experience, including vendor and business customer service agreements
  • Deep knowledge of state and federal privacy laws and regulations
  • Experience in breach response, compliance counseling, and risk management
  • Admission to the State Bar of relevant jurisdiction
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (.) degree from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Admission to the State Bar
  • CIPP/US certification is preferred but not required

Skills:

  • Expertise in data privacy and cybersecurity law and regulations
  • Strong litigation and transactional experience
  • Skilled in negotiating and drafting complex legal agreements
  • Proficiency in breach response and privacy risk management
