Job Title: Legal Assistant - Insurance Regulatory & Litigation
Job Responsibilities:
As a Legal Assistant within the Insurance Regulatory & Litigation practice group, you will be an integral part of the team, supporting attorneys and contributing to the success of various cases and regulatory matters. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Case Management & Organization: You will be responsible for maintaining both physical and electronic files in an organized manner. This includes managing calendars, tracking deadlines, and ensuring that all necessary documentation is easily accessible.
- Document Preparation & Formatting: Drafting, formatting, and proofreading various legal documents such as pleadings, motions, discovery requests and responses, correspondence, and regulatory filings will be a critical part of your role.
- Research & Information Gathering: You will assist with legal research using platforms like Westlaw and LexisNexis, gather factual information, and compile data relevant to insurance regulation and litigation.
- Discovery Support: You will be involved in all phases of discovery, including document review, Bates stamping, privilege logs, and document production.
- Motions & Hearing Preparation: Supporting attorneys in preparation for hearings, depositions, mediations, and arbitrations will be necessary. This includes organizing exhibits, preparing binders, and coordinating logistics.
- Client Communication: You will assist with client intake and maintain professional communication with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel.
- Administrative Support: Performing general administrative duties such as scheduling meetings, managing travel arrangements, processing expense reports, and managing billing tasks will be part of your responsibilities.
- Regulatory Filings: Assisting with the preparation and submission of various regulatory filings with state insurance departments will be required.
Education and Experience Information:
- Experience: Candidates should have 5+ years of experience as a Legal Assistant, preferably with exposure to insurance law, regulatory compliance, litigation, or a similarly complex field.
- Education: A Bachelor's degree or Paralegal Certificate is preferred.
- Technical Proficiency: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) is required, along with experience with document management systems (., NetDocs, iManage) and e-filing platforms.
- Exceptional Organizational Skills: Candidates must demonstrate the ability to manage multiple priorities, meet tight deadlines, and maintain meticulous attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential, with the ability to convey information clearly and concisely.
- Research Acumen: Familiarity with legal research tools and databases is necessary.
- Proactive & Resourceful: Candidates should be self-starters who can anticipate needs, independently problem-solve, and take initiative.
- Team Player: The ability to work collaboratively and effectively within a team-oriented environment is required.
- Professionalism & Confidentiality: Upholding the highest standards of professionalism, ethics, and confidentiality is essential.
Salary Information:
The salary for this position is commensurate with experience and qualifications. The annual salary range is $70,000 to $75,000.
