Job Title:
Paralegal - New Port Richey (Full-Time)

Job Responsibilities:
The Paralegal position supports the New Port Richey team of five attorneys at the organization, assisting in a wide range of practice areas including housing, family law, consumer law, elder law, and general legal services. This role involves supporting staff who facilitate or directly provide legal services to low-income clients. The Paralegal is also involved in outreach efforts and assists at a pro se forms clinic that is being established.

Key responsibilities include:
- Interviewing new and continuing service clients to ensure compliance with grants.
- Investigating facts and examining law sources such as statutes, judicial decisions, legal articles, constitutions, and legal codes to prepare complex legal documents like briefs and pleadings.
- Assisting with CL referrals, case closing procedures, and other grant-related tasks.
- Handling individual client matters independently, under the supervision of an attorney.
- Performing other tasks as assigned by the supervising attorney, including involvement with private attorneys as appropriate.

Education and Experience Information:
Minimum Qualifications:
- A minimum of 2 years of experience as a paralegal with an Associate of Arts (AA) degree in paralegal studies, or 1-year experience as a paralegal with a Bachelor’s degree in paralegal studies. Education can be substituted with a total of 5 years’ experience as a paralegal.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills, with attention to detail and deadlines.
- Strong written, verbal, and proofreading skills.
- Client-focused, with the ability to work effectively and compassionately with low-income clients facing social, economic, and legal challenges.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment and complete most tasks independently.
- Ability to work in and contribute to a supportive, collegial, and friendly team environment.
- Extensive knowledge of legal documents, procedures, terminology, and processes.
- Extensive knowledge of legal case management systems, with the ability to accurately track and process legal case data.
- Stress management skills, multi-tasking skills, and telephone etiquette skills.
- Experience using legal case management systems.

Desirable Qualifications:
- Experience working at a non-profit organization is a plus.
- Florida Registered Paralegal (FRP) through the Florida Bar.

- Starting hourly rate is , with increases based on relevant experience.
