A respected law firm specializing in energy and natural resources is seeking a skilled Oil & Gas Title Attorney to join its legal team. This full-time position is ideal for an attorney with at least one year of experience drafting title opinions for Texas lands. Duties

  • Conduct title examinations to determine ownership interests related to oil and gas properties in Texas

  • Draft title opinions identifying potential issues, defects, liens, and encumbrances

  • Review deeds, leases, contracts, and other documents to establish accurate chain of title

  • Perform due diligence for oil and gas transactions, including acquisitions, mergers, and joint ventures

  • Advise on legal risks and compliance strategies

  • Draft, review, and negotiate contracts including leases, purchase and sale agreements, and joint operating agreements

  • Monitor and interpret federal, state, and local laws affecting oil and gas operations

  • Collaborate with litigation attorneys when disputes arise

  • Foster teamwork and contribute to a collaborative, supportive legal environment

  • Meet quarterly billing requirement of 450 hours

  • Engage in continuous learning and professional development

Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of experience drafting oil and gas title opinions (Texas-specific)

  • Experience with unit-wide division order ownerships, including tract and allocation factors

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively on complex projects

  • High level of ethical conduct and discretion in handling sensitive information

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications

  • Active license to practice law in Texas (or another . jurisdiction with a willingness to comply with Texas-specific requirements)
