This full-time position is ideal for an attorney with at least one year of experience drafting title opinions for Texas lands. Duties
Conduct title examinations to determine ownership interests related to oil and gas properties in Texas
Draft title opinions identifying potential issues, defects, liens, and encumbrances
Review deeds, leases, contracts, and other documents to establish accurate chain of title
Perform due diligence for oil and gas transactions, including acquisitions, mergers, and joint ventures
Advise on legal risks and compliance strategies
Draft, review, and negotiate contracts including leases, purchase and sale agreements, and joint operating agreements
Monitor and interpret federal, state, and local laws affecting oil and gas operations
Collaborate with litigation attorneys when disputes arise
Foster teamwork and contribute to a collaborative, supportive legal environment
Meet quarterly billing requirement of 450 hours
Engage in continuous learning and professional development
Requirements
Minimum 1 year of experience drafting oil and gas title opinions (Texas-specific)
Experience with unit-wide division order ownerships, including tract and allocation factors
Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively on complex projects
High level of ethical conduct and discretion in handling sensitive information
Education
Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
Certifications
Active license to practice law in Texas (or another . jurisdiction with a willingness to comply with Texas-specific requirements)
