The Unified Court System in Bronx, New York is currently seeking qualified candidates for the position of Assistant Law Clerk. This position offers a competitive salary of $82,198 plus location pay of $4,775. The Assistant Law Clerk will work in the Civil Term of the Supreme Court and report to Hon. John Howard-Algarin, Supreme Court Justice, Bronx County.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
- Research and analyze legal issues raised in complex civil term motions
- Prepare memorandums, draft orders, opinions, and verify citations
- Serve as support and assistance to the Justice, as requested
- Participate in court conferences
- Review orders to show cause and other applications
- Perform administrative and clerical duties necessary for the functioning of Chambers
- Communicate with counsel and self-represented litigants in person, via telephone, and email
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Graduation from an accredited law school within 3 years
- Admission to the New York State Bar within 18 months of appointment, or within 3 years of first admission to any bar in the United States
