Job Title: Assistant General Counsel, Director
Experience: Minimum of 8-10 years as a practicing attorney
Location: Chicago, IL; Lenexa, KS; New York, NY
Position Summary:
- Provide legal support to Cboe's . options and equities exchanges regulated by the SEC
- Manage regulatory filings and work closely with business and regulatory staff
- Provide legal guidance and advice on issues related to market data and access services and options business lines
- Advise the business team overseeing . options and equities business lines as needed
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Review and draft rules and rule filings to the SEC
- Advise and provide legal support on regulatory matters
- Prepare comment letters, act as liaison between business and SEC, and respond to inquiries from SEC staff
- Research complex legal issues and provide analysis and recommendations
- Manage rule changes through internal and external regulators' review and approval processes
- Work with foreign legal counsel to obtain guidance for managing and promoting venues in foreign jurisdictions
- Provide legal counsel for regulatory exams, inspections, and other matters
- Handle general legal matters and assist with various legal projects
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree and Juris Doctorate from an accredited institution
- Member of applicable state bar
- Minimum of 8-10 years of experience as a practicing attorney, preferably at a . securities exchange, the SEC, or a . broker-dealer, with a specialty related to securities exchange regulations or other securities regulatory matters
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written
- Experience in drafting exchange rule filings and addressing exchange registration and regulatory matters preferred
- Detail-oriented with the ability to articulate complex concepts and provide analysis for regulatory filings and other written communications
- Able to work independently and in a team environment
- Politically aware and able to develop business-led solutions while managing risk
- Highly motivated and strategic with excellent analytical abilities

Salary Information:
- National new hire base pay range for this job in the United States is $182,750-$225,750
- Range may be higher for certain areas based on geographic differentials
- Individual pay determined by factors such as location, skills, experience, and education/training
