Job Title: Project Analyst
Job Responsibilities:
1. Practice Group Projects
- Collaborate with Practice Group Managers and Legal Project Managers to improve processes and manage specific project portions.
- Develop skills to manage projects effectively.
- Gain a strong understanding of practice group economics, task codes, and client requirements.
- Understand outside counsel guidelines for time entry, invoicing, pricing, and rate requirements.
- Maintain a collaborative and proactive relationship with the Pricing and Legal Project Management Team, Finance and Accounting Department, Business Development Team, and Firm Practice Leaders and attorneys.
- Work with different management groups and attorneys within the law firm to utilize tools and analytics for better time entries and guide rates and pricing strategies to maximize profitable growth.
- Support Intake Clerks with SharePoint/Case Management inputs.
2. Billing and Time Entry Projects
- Perform time entry auditing per outside counsel guidelines.
- Run routine scripts to generate a list of new time entries posted.
- Make necessary changes to time entries still in WIP (Work in Progress).
- Split block billing narratives into separate entries as appropriate.
- Escalate to timekeeper if the narrative is not descriptive, if time increments are listed in block billed entries, or if there is an error in the substance of the narrative.
- Escalate to the billing partner if a wording change may alter the definition of actual work done, or if any of the timekeeper escalations are still not compliant with guidelines.
- Escalate to the billing partner if month-end, matter-level time entries identify multiple timekeepers completing the same task or attending the same meeting.
- Run Billblast reporting on e-billing client rejections and reductions.
- Work on automation to correct repetitive errors in the time entry system via macro/scripts/error messages.
- Document and analyze required information and data.
3. Secondary Job Functions
- Pricing Related Projects
- Support partners for pricing requests, time entry best practices, preparation of fee estimates, development of appropriate pricing approaches, and communicate fees and value pricing.
- Create and document best practices related to time entry, pricing, and profitability.
- Maintain current knowledge of trends and developments affecting the area of specialization, encouraging innovative thinking and the exercise of sound judgment to achieve results.
- Maintain the highest level of confidentiality of all law firm records and files.
- Assume additional responsibilities as requested.
Education and Experience Information:
- .
- Self-motivated, strategic, and analytical thinker with a high level of initiative and attention to detail.
- Experience constructing complex models, financial analyses, and reports using Excel and other relational-database systems.
- Exceptional organizational skills with time management skills to meet deadlines and manage competing priorities.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the law firm, both internally and externally.
- Demonstrated ability to learn new technology quickly.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, ability to organize and prioritize multiple assignments, use initiative and judgment to accomplish results, participate as a team leader or member of a team, work under pressure, and complete job assignments in an accurate, timely, and professional manner.
- Ability to travel to the law firm’s other offices.
Salary Information:
- Salary Range: $55,000 - $65,000
- Salary Range Note: Any offered salary is determined based on internal equity, internal salary range, market data, applicant skills, relevant experience, degrees, or certifications.
