Job Title: Tax Manager, Alternative Investments

Job Responsibilities:

The Tax Manager, Alternative Investments is responsible for providing tax compliance and consulting services to clients in the Venture Capital, Private Equity, Hedge Fund, and Real Estate sectors. The primary duties include:

- Tax Compliance:
- Ensuring clients comply with applicable authorities while minimizing tax and reporting burdens.
- Ensuring compliance with company policies, standards, and the BDO Tax Quality Manual.
- Applying an understanding of client-specific circumstances and preparing required filings using a system of review and documentation.
- Collecting all necessary data for filing requirements and identifying missing items for return preparation.
- Utilizing company compliance software to enhance efficiency in the tax preparation process.
- Collaborating with Principals, Tax Seniors, and Associates to complete projects, following up with open items.
- Delivering high-quality federal, state, and international tax compliance services.
- Leading complex engagements with a team of tax professionals.
- Managing engagement aspects including billing, collections, and project budgets.
- Building and managing client relationships and ensuring documentation of client work and conclusions.

- Tax Consulting:
- Assisting with identifying, developing, recommending, and implementing efficient and effective tax strategies.

- Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Managing and mentoring teams of Tax Seniors and Associates.

Education and Experience Information:

- Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree required, with a focus in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Statistics preferred.
- Master’s Degree in Accounting or Taxation preferred.

- Experience:
- A minimum of five years of relevant tax experience and/or public accounting, private industry accounting, or consulting/professional services experience is required.
- Experience in the Financial Services industry, particularly supporting Alternative Investment funds such as Venture Capital, Private Equity, Real Estate, and Hedge Funds, is preferred.
- Proficiency in the taxation of partnerships is preferred.
- Prior supervisory experience is required.

- License/Certifications:
- CPA certification, Attorney (admitted to practice in a . jurisdiction), or Internal Revenue Service Enrolled Agent (EA) required.
- Other professional degrees or certifications applicable to the role are beneficial.

- Software:
- Experience with Microsoft Office Tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook), and Adobe Acrobat is preferred.
- Experience with tax research databases is preferred.
- Proficiency in tax compliance process software is preferred.

- Language:
- Not applicable.
