Job Title: Assistant General Counsel - Litigation
Job Responsibilities:
- Manage and oversee all aspects of the company's litigation portfolio, including consumer protection, commercial disputes, shareholder litigation, regulatory investigations, intellectual property claims, and class action lawsuits.
- Develop and execute litigation strategies to minimize risk and protect the company’s interests.
- Oversee discovery, depositions, motions, and trial preparation in coordination with external counsel.
- Evaluate settlement opportunities and recommend risk-mitigation strategies to leadership.
- Act as a key liaison with outside counsel to ensure cost-effective and efficient case management.
- Provide proactive legal counsel on potential disputes and recommend risk-mitigation strategies.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures to reduce legal exposure and liability.
- Conduct internal investigations in response to complaints, regulatory inquiries, or potential legal claims.
- Advise business units on best practices to prevent litigation and regulatory non-compliance.
- Collaborate with internal business teams to ensure alignment on litigation strategy and risk management.
- Manage legal budgets and cost-containment efforts related to litigation.
- Represent the company in mediations, arbitrations, and negotiations when necessary.
Education and Experience Information:
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and active membership in a state bar.
- 7+ years of litigation experience in a law firm or in-house legal department, focusing on commercial, employment, or regulatory litigation.
- Strong knowledge of civil procedure, regulatory investigations, and dispute resolution strategies.
- Experience managing outside counsel and litigation budgets.
- Excellent legal research, writing, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to manage multiple litigation matters in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong business acumen and the ability to communicate legal risks effectively to business stakeholders.
- Background in handling class action lawsuits, intellectual property disputes, or government investigations.
- Familiarity with e-discovery tools and legal technology platforms.
- Must have legal right to work in the .
Salary Information:
- The base salary for this position is expected to be in the range of $218,000 to $249,500, depending on skills, qualifications, and experience.
- This role might also be eligible for discretionary short-term and long-term incentives.
