Job Title: Tax Manager, Alternative Investments
Job Responsibilities:
The Tax Manager, Alternative Investments is tasked with providing tax compliance and consulting services to clients involved in Venture Capital, Private Equity, Hedge Funds, and Real Estate. Key responsibilities include:
Tax Compliance:
- Ensuring clients comply with all relevant authorities while minimizing their tax and reporting burdens.
- Ensuring self and client service teams comply with all company policies, standards, and the company Tax Quality Manual.
- Applying an understanding of clients’ unique circumstances, documentation, and legal requirements to prepare necessary tax filings.
- Collecting all required data for compliance and communicating any missing items for tax return preparation.
- Utilizing company compliance software to enhance efficiency in the tax preparation process.
- Collaborating effectively with Principals, Tax Seniors, and Associates to complete projects, including follow-ups on open items.
- Delivering high-quality federal, state, and international tax compliance services.
- Leading complex engagements with a team of tax professionals.
- Managing engagements, including billing, collections, and project budgets.
- Building and managing client relationships.
- Documenting client work and conclusions in the client tax file.
Tax Consulting:
- Assisting with identifying, developing, recommending, and implementing efficient and effective tax strategies.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Managing and mentoring teams of Tax Seniors and Associates.
Education and Experience Information:
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree required, with a preference for a focus in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Statistics.
- Master’s Degree in Accounting or Taxation is preferred.
Experience:
- Five or more years of relevant tax experience and/or experience in public accounting, private industry accounting, or consulting/professional services is required.
- Experience in the Financial Services industry supporting Alternative Investment funds, including Venture Capital, Private Equity, Real Estate, and Hedge Funds, is preferred.
- Proficiency in the taxation of partnerships is preferred.
- Prior supervisory experience is required.
License/Certifications:
- CPA certification, Attorney (admitted to practice in a . jurisdiction), or Internal Revenue Service Enrolled Agent (EA) is required.
- Possession of other professional degrees or certifications applicable to the role is beneficial.
Software:
- Experience with Microsoft Office Tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook) and Adobe Acrobat is preferred.
- Experience with tax research databases is preferred.
- Proficiency in tax compliance process software is preferred.
