Job Title: Trust And Estate Associate Attorney

Job Overview:
A Minneapolis-based law firm is seeking a driven and detail-oriented Associate Attorney to join its Trusts and Estates practice. The ideal candidate will bring 2+ years of relevant experience working with high-net-worth individuals, business owners, and fiduciaries. This role focuses on sophisticated estate planning, wealth transfer strategies, trust and estate administration, and business succession planning. Duties:

  • Draft and review comprehensive estate plans, including wills, trusts, and powers of attorney

  • Advise individuals, families, and fiduciaries on estate and tax planning matters

  • Support trust and estate administration, including probate filings and trust accountings

  • Structure and implement business succession plans for closely held business clients

  • Conduct legal research and analysis related to tax, fiduciary, and probate matters

  • Communicate with clients, financial advisors, and other professionals to coordinate planning efforts

  • Participate in firm initiatives, including mentoring, training, and business development

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2 years of legal experience in estate planning and administration

  • Demonstrated ability to manage client relationships and handle complex matters independently

  • Strong drafting skills, particularly with estate planning instruments and fiduciary documents

  • Detail-oriented with excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Proven ability to work collaboratively within a team-oriented environment

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (.) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Admission to the Minnesota State Bar (or eligibility for admission)

Skills:

  • In-depth understanding of estate, gift, and generation-skipping transfer tax laws

  • Familiarity with trust administration and probate procedures in Minnesota

  • Proficiency in legal research tools and document drafting software

  • High degree of professionalism, discretion, and client-service orientation

  • Ability to prioritize competing deadlines and manage time efficiently
