Job Overview:
A prestigious international law firm is seeking an Associate Attorney to join its Data, Privacy, and Cybersecurity Practice. This role offers the opportunity to work at the forefront of evolving global regulations concerning data use, privacy, cybersecurity, and artificial intelligence. The successful candidate will represent high-profile clients in complex regulatory matters and investigations, provide strategic legal counsel, and contribute to shaping global compliance frameworks in a collaborative and intellectually rigorous environment.

Location:

  • New York City, NY

Duties:

  • Advise clients on global privacy, cybersecurity, AI, and consumer protection regulations

  • Represent clients in investigations led by the FTC and state Attorneys General

  • Counsel on data collection, sharing, and usage compliance strategies

  • Respond to and manage data breach incidents, including legal notification and mitigation

  • Assist with development and auditing of privacy and cybersecurity policies and compliance programs

  • Design and implement cross-border compliance strategies for multinational clients

  • Engage in regulatory advocacy and contribute to policy shaping in relevant sectors

Requirements:

  • 3–5 years of relevant experience in data privacy, cybersecurity, or consumer protection law

  • Experience with FTC regulatory investigations and enforcement is highly desirable

  • Background in advising technology or highly regulated companies preferred

  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills

  • Strong analytical and legal reasoning skills

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (.) from an accredited law school

  • Demonstrated academic excellence

Certifications:

  • Active Bar membership in good standing in at least one . jurisdiction

  • Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP) preferred

Skills:

  • Deep knowledge of privacy and cybersecurity law frameworks (., GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA)

  • Familiarity with network security, web technologies, or database systems is a plus

  • Ability to navigate and apply complex regulatory frameworks across jurisdictions

  • Strong collaboration and client advisory skills

  • Technical understanding or programming experience is beneficial
