Job Overview:
A prestigious law firm is seeking an experienced Trusts and Estates Associate Attorney to join their team. This role offers a hybrid remote opportunity, providing an excellent platform to work with high-net-worth individuals, families, and businesses in the areas of estate planning, trust administration, and probate law. The ideal candidate will collaborate with senior attorneys to deliver exceptional legal services, managing a diverse range of responsibilities and ensuring clients receive top-tier counsel.

Duties:

  • Provide expert legal counsel on matters related to estate planning, trust administration, and probate.
  • Draft and finalize various estate planning documents, including wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and advance healthcare directives.
  • Advise clients on strategies to minimize estate taxes and protect assets.
  • Assist in the administration of estates and trusts, including document preparation, asset distribution, and resolving disputes.
  • Conduct legal research and stay current with developments in estate planning, tax law, and probate law.
  • Collaborate with clients’ financial advisors, accountants, and other professionals to develop comprehensive estate plans.
  • Travel to the office in Bantam, CT, as required for CT-based attorneys.
  • Represent clients in court for probate and trust administration proceedings.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships through clear communication and a deep understanding of client needs.

Requirements:

  • 4-6+ years of experience in Trusts and Estates law.
  • Admission to the New York, Connecticut, and/or Massachusetts Bar (or ability to waive in) is required.
  • Juris Doctorate from an ABA-accredited law school and active membership in good standing with the bar.
  • Experience drafting a wide range of estate planning documents, including complex trusts.
  • Proficiency in preparing estate, gift, and fiduciary income tax returns.
  • Prior experience in representing fiduciaries and beneficiaries in Probate Court.
  • Strong writing skills are essential for success in this role.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills and the ability to prioritize effectively.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple priorities.
  • Ability to absorb and understand new information quickly.
  • Professional, cooperative, and flexible attitude.
  • Ability to work well with diverse personalities within the organization.
  • Military experience is a plus.

Education:

  • Juris Doctorate from an ABA-accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the New York, Connecticut, and/or Massachusetts Bar (or ability to waive in).
