Job Title: Senior Data Governance Counsel – Remote
Job Responsibilities:
- Provide legal counsel to the Chief Data Governance Officer and the Chief Data Officer on data matters.
- Offer legal input and support for establishing, maintaining, and monitoring data governance controls and firewalls in line with applicable laws, regulations, contract requirements, and company policies.
- Develop and maintain data governance policies and update controls, policies, SOPs, and contract provisions to reflect new or changing legal/regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
- Support litigation and disputes related to data governance and assist with regulatory or legislative inquiries.
- Collaborate with AI/ML teams and the AI Responsible Use team on data governance matters.
- Identify training and development opportunities for legal and business colleagues, and develop and deliver necessary trainings.
- Serve as an enterprise thought leader and SME resource on data governance matters and issues.
- Develop and maintain enterprise positions on data governance for external and internal audiences.
- Liaise closely with business counsels, litigation, privacy, compliance, and antitrust on data governance matters.
Education and Experience Information:
- Juris Doctorate degree.
- Active attorney license in current state of residence.
- 10+ years of professional legal experience, including in a legal firm, government, or corporate environment.
- Proven background in the health or technology industry and state and/or federal privacy issues impacting the healthcare industry.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Proven success in collaborating across a matrixed business and legal environment, with excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as presentation skills.
- Proven ability to evaluate and determine appropriate legal courses of action to meet business unit needs.
- Ability to build and maintain rapport with superiors, peers, subordinates, and external company contacts.
- Background in implementing HIPAA de-identification requirements.
- Ability to express ideas, influence others, and build consensus among stakeholders.
Salary Information:
- Pay range is from $156,400 to $268,000 annually based on full-time employment.
- Compensation is based on several factors, including local labor markets, education, work experience, and certifications.
- Offers a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase, and 401k contribution, subject to eligibility requirements.
