Staff Attorney – General Liability:

Job Summary:
- Full-time position with **Members Only**, a world-class, patient-centered, integrated academic medical center
- Responsible for legal management and resolution of claims and incidents for all of NYU Langone Hospitals insurance programs
- Assist in development and optimization of insurance placements on an annual basis
- Provide legal support for contracts, evidence of insurance, real estate transactions, and other insurance-related matters
- Directly report to Assistant Director of Insurance & Multiline Claims

Responsibilities:
- Manage and resolve a caseload of new and existing multiline claims, primarily General Liability and Auto Liability claims and litigations
- Coordinate property loss claims and identify risk transfer situations
- Act as point of contact for insurance-related concerns and work with various departments and facilities to gather claim-related documentation
- Review and advise on insurance provisions of contracts
- Participate in site visits and witness interviews
- Stay up to date on changes in law and provide legal analysis and coverage positions
- Analyze newly reported claims and determine appropriate course of action
- Direct oversight and implementation of strategic direction for defense counsel
- Keep senior management informed of material claims and status of litigations
- Attend court conferences and trials, as needed
- Prepare reports and Executive Claims Summary for each case

Qualifications:
- Admission to the NY Bar with a minimum of 6 years experience
- Minimum of 4 years multiline claims experience with proven track record of successful claims program management
- Proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Self-motivated with ability to multi-task and prioritize
- Expertise in direct negotiation and NY law

Preferred Qualifications:
- Detail-oriented and organized with ability to work on multiple assignments simultaneously
- Strong communication, research, and legal interpretation skills
- Client service oriented and able to work collaboratively with various business personnel

Salary Information:
- Salary range of $146, – $168, annually, in compliance with New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements
- Actual salaries dependent on experience, specialty, education, and hospital need
- Additional compensation, benefits, and bonuses/incentives not included in salary range
