Job Responsibilities:
As an Insurance Tax Consultant within the Business Tax Services group, the candidate will play a key role in tax engagements by assisting with a variety of tax services pertinent to both public and private companies. The responsibilities include:
- Providing tax advisory services to clients in the insurance industry, covering business functions such as underwriting, claims, IT, finance, and accounting.
- Coordinating with the client's tax and finance departments to gather data necessary for tax return preparation.
- Assisting with strategic tax planning, which includes researching federal tax law and drafting technical memos.
- Offering support in IRS audit defense.
The candidate will be a valuable member of the team, helping clients integrate tax strategy into their business operations while considering their individual risk profiles. This includes addressing global tax challenges and transforming the tax department to enhance impact and efficiency.
Education and Experience Information:
Required:
- Ability to perform job responsibilities within a hybrid work model, requiring US Tax professionals to co-locate in person 2 to 3 days per week.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business, or related fields.
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience working with private or public corporations.
- Proven problem-solving abilities and leadership skills.
- Strong presentation and communication skills.
- Excellent research and writing skills.
- Ability to travel up to 25% on average, based on the work and the clients and industries/sectors served.
- One of the following active accreditations obtained, in progress, or must be willing and able to obtain:
- Licensed CPA in the state of practice/primary office if eligible to sit for the CPA.
- If not CPA eligible:
- Licensed Attorney
- Enrolled Agent
- Certifications such as Chartered Financial Advisor (CFA) or Certified Financial Planner (CFP).
Preferred:
- Advanced degree such as Masters of Tax, JD, and/or LLM.
- Experience in the life insurance, property insurance, or casualties industry.
- Previous experience with a Big 4 or large CPA firm.
- Previous experience with corporate tax preparation, tax compliance, or tax controversy.
