Law Reform Legal Intern - Fall 2025
Job Responsibilities
The Law Reform Legal Intern is responsible for actively participating in the organization's groundbreaking work on impact litigation and policy initiatives that address systemic issues affecting the organization's clients. Interns will engage in various tasks depending on the specific needs of the unit to which they are assigned. Key responsibilities include:
- Conducting legal research and factual research
- Interviewing clients and participating in discovery and trial practice as opportunities arise
- Contributing to legal papers, policy memos, or legislative testimony
- Engaging in impact litigation, policy reform, coalition building, and public education strategies
- Ranking preferred law reform units for assignment based on experience and organizational needs
Education and Experience Information
- Applicants must be 2L or 3L law school students in good standing
- Demonstrated interest in issues affecting the rights of the organization's clients
- Excellent research, writing, and communication skills
- Ability to analyze complex legal and policy issues
- Initiative to see projects through to completion
- Commitment to racial and social justice
Salary Information
This is an intern position and does not offer a salary. However, eligible interns have the opportunity to receive a $1,000 stipend from the Howard Rossbach fund. The stipend is awarded through a lottery system to 4-5 interns annually who demonstrate financial need and lack funding for their internship at the organization.
Stipends and Benefits
To be considered for the J. Howard Rossbach Internship Stipend, applicants must:
- Be enrolled as a degree-seeking undergraduate or graduate student at an accredited institution
- Complete the Howard Rossbach Internship Stipend Form at the time of submitting their internship application
- Be accepted to participate in an internship program at the organization
- Demonstrate financial need and lack of funding for their internship
- Submit a statement reflecting a strong interest in working at the organization upon graduation
The stipend will be treated as taxable income.
