Tax Manager - Mergers and Acquisitions The candidate will use expertise in taxation to provide compliance and consulting services to hedge funds, private equities, investment partnerships, alternative products, family offices, mutual funds, broker-dealers, banks, insurance companies and other investment managers. Involvement in client meetings on compliance and consulting projects related to tax planning opportunities and the tax implications of transactions of funds. Review of transaction and brokerage account summary, K-1 analysis and detailed partner allocation schedules. Advise clients on a full spectrum of tax services, including planning, research, and compliance. Assist with new business development, extended service and tax issue recognition for existing clients. Develop, motivate, and train staff level team members. Manage client needs with respect to tax services and federal and state tax compliance. Develop and sustain strong client relationships. Keep up-to-date on current tax practices and changes in tax law. Provide industry knowledge and expertise. Master's degree in Taxation IS desirable. Bachelor's degree in Accounting required and CPA or JD degree is required. Must have at least 5+ years of financial services tax compliance and tax consulting experience pertaining to planning, research and general mergers and acquisitions activities. Knowledge of Subchapter K, financial products, wash sale and constructive sale rules, and aggregate allocations and the ability to read subscription and partnership agreement is needed. Understanding of trader vs. investor rules, OID, swaps and/or derivatives, market discount rules, incentive allocations and common hedge fund structures (i.e. master feeders) is essential. Excellent written and verbal communication skill is advantageous. Strong Microsoft Excel and Word skills is required. Outstanding organizational and time management skills; ability to prioritize multiple assignments.
