Attorney - US Public Sector Responsibilities: Reimagine, architect, launch, and manage a company-wide compliance framework addressing Microsoft’s risks in US government sales. Design and execute risk assessments to survey existing controls relevant to addressing U.S. government sales risk and identify opportunities for enhancements to the framework or other controls; partner with Finance Controls and Compliance experts to design and advise on monitoring these controls. Identify opportunities for improvement within existing processes and provide legal guidance on necessary changes to manage U.S. government sales and services compliance risk. Drive awareness of ethics and compliance requirements through effective training and communication. Establish relationships with Microsoft internal stakeholders, including Finance, Audit, Legal, and U.S. Public Sector business leaders, to understand varying compliance requirements and needs, provide legal guidance, and identify and prioritize risk.

Qualification and Experience

Qualifications: JD Degree or Licensed to practice law or an active Bar membership in any state within the US. 7+ years’ experience as a practicing attorney in compliance and/or relevant legal field; in house experience a plus. Active U.S. Government Security Clearance (or the ability to obtain it) a plus. Experience managing and working with outside resources, including government agencies, law firms and trade associations. Ability to create, nurture and grow a program that manages compliance risks associated with U.S. government sales and services. Ability to effectively collaborate with various stakeholders to coordinate virtual teams and achieve measurable results. Organizational agility, analytical and creative thinking, and ability to operationalize initiatives. The ability to independently prioritize work to meet demanding deadlines while managing multiple projects and activities across business areas, functions, and geographies. Exceptional communication skills (presentation, oral, written) and proven executive presence. In depth knowledge of, and ideally direct experience with, government contract compliance and procurement requirements and government reporting obligations and certifications.
