Job Overview:
A law firm seeks an experienced associate attorney to join its Data Protection, Cybersecurity, and Technology team in Minneapolis, MN. Duties:

  • Advise clients on compliance with data privacy and cybersecurity regulations, including laws such as CCPA, GDPR, and other . state-specific privacy frameworks.
  • Support clients with incident response planning and managing data security breaches.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate data processing agreements, information security terms, and technology-related contracts, including software and SaaS agreements.
  • Provide strategic guidance on intellectual property, technology licensing, and IT service agreements.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and clients to address complex data and technology challenges.

Requirements:

  • 2–5 years of legal experience in a law firm or in-house environment.
  • Familiarity with data privacy laws and experience in privacy compliance and security incident response.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to provide clear, client-focused advice.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and work in a collaborative team environment.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (.) degree from an ABA-accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active attorney license in at least one . jurisdiction, with eligibility for prompt admission in Minnesota.
  • CIPP certification (preferred but not required).

Skills:

  • Deep knowledge of data privacy laws, regulations, and best practices.
  • Experience drafting and negotiating complex technology-related agreements.
  • Ability to handle high-stakes data protection and security issues effectively.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
