Regional Counsel The candidate will report to the General Counsel. Will be responsible for contract review and negotiation, claims management, project support, practice education and risk mitigation strategy. Review and negotiate contracts for design, architecture and services and sub-consulting disciplines. Engage with business management to analyze risk/reward and make informed business decisions. Manage design/construction defect claims, using outside counsel as needed. Work with project teams to mitigate potential claims and escalate response as appropriate. Develop and deliver legal training materials. Advise on general business issues (collections, staffing, licensure, etc.).
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should preferably have active Bar admission in California. Must have 5+ years of experience in the field of construction law (transactional or litigation), preferably with an emphasis on professional services clients. Familiarity with industry standard forms (e.g., AIA, DBIA, Consensus DOCS) is essential. Excellent presentation and negotiation skills are needed. Periodic travel is required.
