ProfileNew Haven office of our client seeks mid-level income tax associate attorney with 3-4 years of experience working in the income tax field either within the income tax group of a law firm or an accounting firm. The candidate will develop a broad range of federal and state income tax skills coupled with estate and gift tax sensitivity. Will develop significant international tax knowledge, as the clients often have multinational activities. Work directly with clients and intermediaries alongside partners of the firm, establishing and maintaining long-term relationships. An LL.M. degree tax may be a plus. Must be admitted to both the Connecticut Bar and the New York Bar within a year of accepting an offer. Experience advising clients with respect to personal income taxation and reporting, experience with trust taxation a plus. Experience with entity governance documents (e.g., operating agreements, by-laws) and entity tax (particularly subchapter K facility) is essential. Experience with transactions, particularly for closely-held businesses is needed. Experience with international cross-border tax structuring and investment (inbound and outbound) including CFC/PFIC analysis, Subpart F income, permanent establishment testing and nexus issues is essential. Exposure to trusts and estate and gift taxes a plus.
