Senior Counsel Duties: Provides overall direction by analyzing business objectives and customer needs; developing, communicating, building support for, and implementing business strategies, plans, and practices; analyzing costs and forecasts and incorporating them into business plans; determining and supporting resource requirements; evaluating operational processes; measuring outcomes to ensure desired results; identifying and capitalizing on improvement opportunities; promoting a customer environment; and demonstrating adaptability and sponsoring continuous learning. Develops and implements strategies to attract and maintain a highly skilled and engaged workforce by diagnosing capability gaps; recruiting, selecting, and developing talent; supporting mentorship, workforce development, and succession planning; and leveraging the capabilities of new and existing talent. Cultivates an environment where associates respect and adhere to company standards of integrity and ethics by integrating these values into all programs and practices; developing consequences for violations or non-compliance; and supporting the Open Door Policy. Develops and leverages internal and external partnerships and networks to maximize the achievement of business goals by sponsoring and leading key community outreach and involvement initiatives; engaging key stakeholders in the development, execution, and evaluation of appropriate business plans and initiatives; and supporting associate efforts in these areas. Identifies, assesses and manages risks to the company by engaging, directing, and supervising outside counsel and consultants; collaborating with clients to develop mitigation strategies; ordering and overseeing investigations; directing, overseeing, participating in negotiations; ordering, directing the review of company policies, practices and procedures; developing and monitoring effectiveness of the reporting structure; overseeing the filing of governmental notices or disclosures; collaborating with officer-level clients on significant risks; seeking authority and obtaining informed consent to proceed with legal matters; reviewing legal documents, notices, and announcements; representing the company before courts of law, legislative bodies, governmental agencies, and other tribunals; reviewing legislative and regulatory developments and other research; and developing the strategy for insurance and indemnification. Provides legal advice to the company by providing clients with an informed understanding of the client’s legal rights, obligations, and risks to allow the client to make informed decisions; developing strategies to respond to client’s legal issues; counseling clients regarding legal compliance and costs of business initiatives; identifying the need for and directing training; reviewing legislative trends and significant legal decisions; and representing the company before various administrative and judicial bodies. Identifies the need for and directs legal support for business transactions and projects by collaborating with internal and external stakeholders; overseeing drafting, editing, and reviewing legal documents, notices, and announcements; directing the development of standards and forms for handling commonly-encountered transactions and projects; engaging, directing, and supervising outside counsel and consultants; counseling clients on alternative legal and business strategies; identifying the need for legal surveys; and reviewing and approving business initiative implementation strategies. Develops and fosters relationships as business partners with client by understanding the global business goals and objectives; providing business related input; monitoring operational and financial performance; and supporting the implementation of the company business objectives. Directs planning and budgeting process by recommending and reviewing initial financial goals with senior management; establishing financial budgets; identifying risks and opportunities associated with meeting budgets based on current trends and financial performance; advising senior financial management; reviewing operating and capital plans while considering business intelligence, prior-year activity, and operational plan information; sharing plan updates with senior management; reviewing and updating budget versions to ensure final plan meets corporate financial improvement guidelines; and regularly reviewing actual performance to plan, identifying gaps, updating forecasts, and recommending actions to correct performance.

Qualification and Experience

Qualifications: Law degree from an accredited law school and 5 years’ experience in law.
