The candidate will provide effective legal counseling and advice the company on emerging areas of law related to data privacy, such as CCPA, GDPR, and other privacy laws and regulations, as well as cybersecurity and autonomous vehicles. Provide legal support and guidance on other matters such as mergers & acquisitions and trade compliance. Draft, review and negotiate a variety of documents related to these areas of laws. Manage related litigation and pre-litigation matters directly or with the assistance of outside legal counsel. Interpret applicable laws, rulings and regulations, and advise Navistar on legal rights, remedies and options. Provide legal advice, support and services to Navistar on a broad range of topics and issues. Additional preferred experience in private company corporate governance, corporate finance, drafting and negotiating commercial agreements, and regulatory matters. Provide training to company personnel on substantive legal topics. Help with the creation and implementation of legal policies and protocols. Interact well with and advises senior executives and all other levels of management on various matters.

Qualification and Experience

The candidate should have a Juris Doctor Degree (JD) and 5 years of experience as an attorney. Excluding current Navistar employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States. Navistar does not anticipate providing employment-related work sponsorship for this position (e.g., H-1B status). Strong analytical ability together with reliably sound business judgment and a balanced approach to risk mitigation. Ability to multitask and manage a variety of projects. Demonstrated commitment to compliance, integrity, and quality. Ability to prioritize conflicting demands from multiple business clients in a fast-paced environment. Ability to collaborate, build relationships, gain credibility, and partner effectively with others throughout the organization. Self-directed, solution-focused individual that with strong work ethic and the ability to collaborate cross-functionally to achieve enterprise-wide results. Knowledge and experience in key legal trends that impact the business. Demonstrated ability to build effective working relationships with colleagues worldwide from many different cultures. Member in good standing of the IL Bar or the bar of a reciprocal state.
