Assistant Prosecuting Attorney II DUTIES: Reviews police reports and warrants. Takes witness statements. Attends depositions. Prepares victims and witnesses for trial. Requests, reviews and organizes information and evidence for prosecution. Prepares or directs preparation of motions, legal memoranda, criminal complaints, correspondence, exhibits, etc. Attends court sessions for bench and jury trials, hearings and motions and presents cases and arguments. Reviews cases for recommendations and determines trial strategies. Reviews, approves, or denies warrant applications and search warrants, and files appropriate charges. Views crime scene and evidence. Reviews police reports. Answers docket. Appears and handles sentencing and arraignments. Negotiates with defense attorneys. Discusses plea negotiations with victims and defense attorneys. Advises and supervises subordinates. Advises law enforcement personnel regarding legal issues. Maintains knowledge of criminal trial strategies, interview techniques, rules of evidence, law enforcement strategies and court procedures. Participates in on-going training, attends staff meetings and other meetings.

Qualification and Experience

REQUIREMENTS: JD Degree from an accredited law school and Missouri license to practice law and a member in good standing. Requires 3-5 years prosecution experience, or combination of legal practice and law enforcement related experience. Considerable prosecution experience preferred.
