Job Title: Senior Family Law Attorney

Job Overview:
A well-established law firm in Northern California is seeking an experienced Senior Family Law Attorney to join their growing team. This position offers the unique opportunity to work remotely with occasional in-person appearances at courthouses. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in family law litigation, including divorce, custody, and support matters, and will be ready to take on high-stakes cases while contributing to the development of junior attorneys.

Duties:

  • Lead complex family law cases, including divorce, child custody, support, and property division.
  • Provide expert legal counsel and advocacy in hearings, depositions, mediations, and trials (both remote and in-person).
  • Prepare and review legal documents such as pleadings, motions, and agreements, ensuring compliance with legal requirements.
  • Conduct financial analysis, including creating Dissomaster calculations and Propertizer reports.
  • Oversee discovery processes and manage trial preparation, including organizing exhibits, key facts, and critical dates.
  • Mentor junior attorneys and paralegals to enhance their professional growth.
  • Collaborate with a forward-thinking legal team to advance case strategies and streamline case progression using technology.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in family law litigation with a proven track record in divorce, custody, support, and property division cases.
  • An active member in good standing with the California State Bar.
  • Expertise in preparing legal documents, conducting discovery, and providing financial analyses.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to advocate effectively in hearings and trials.
  • Leadership abilities and experience working collaboratively within a legal team.
  • Comfort and proficiency with virtual legal tools for client communications and hearings.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active California State Bar License in good standing.

Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of family law matters including divorce, child custody, alimony, and pre/post-nuptial agreements.
  • Strong leadership and team collaboration skills.
  • Technologically proficient with legal software and remote communication tools.
  • Ability to mentor and develop junior legal staff.
