Supervisory Range Operations Specialist, GS 11
The candidate will provide responsibilities include: Manage live-fire training, range safety, and operations, provide guidance and advice to Commanders regarding range and training safety programs. Plan and advice on new or revised policies, objectives, programs, technological and equipment advances pertaining to weapons, ammunition and, training facilities. Review and analyze all schedules requiring the use of range training requirements. Resolve issues pertaining to live-fire training, range safety and operations. Travel is required.

Qualification and Experience

The candidate must have following qualifications.

For Gs-11 Level: Must have 1+ year of specialized experience which includes making decisions on placing units and weapons systems in the appropriate ranges and training areas to avoid potential safety hazards AND overseeing and performing maintenance of range operations equipment AND inspecting non-standard and fixed ranges and training areas to resolve issues. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). OR Must have PhD or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M. in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. OR A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.
