Project Attorney The candidate will defend tenants in eviction actions, recover wrongfully withheld security deposits, resolve repair and maintenance problems, address discrimination, enforce Georgia’s recently enacted law against retaliatory evictions, and engage in community outreach activities such as housing clinics. While supervised by local management staff, will work closely with the other EPP Attorneys. Conduct client intake interviews, perform legal research, draft legal memoranda, advocacy letters, legal documents, and maintain detailed records in a case management system. Handle litigation in magistrate, state, and superior courts. Work with local code enforcement to address housing conditions and document the need for such services. Work with courts to adopt policies and practices that allow tenants to effectively present their case, assert their legal rights, and access the court; and Engage in community outreach. Should be Graduate of an accredited law school. Admission to the Georgia Bar, preferred. Experience working with clients with low incomes and a commitment to social justice is required. Ability to speak Spanish is preferred.
