Paralegal/Legal Assistant I
The candidate is responsible to prepares a variety of legal documents such as notices, motions, orders, stipulations, writs, subpoena, and judgments on default, declarations, complaints and processes of service. Serves as the principal clerical and administrative support person for the assigned Assistant U.S. Attorney(s) by carrying out and coordinating all legal clerical and day-to-day administrative support type activities. Maintains a calendar of all assigned active cases, which includes keeping track of filings, hearings, trial dates, and scheduling conferences and interviews. Supervises contractor personnel and provide assistance in such areas as payroll, vacation, benefits, and disciplinary actions. Performs other job related duties as required.

Qualification and Experience

The candidate must have 2 years of legal secretarial experience, although higher education may be substituted for some of the experience. Excellent written and oral communication skills and thorough knowledge of legal research tools such as LEXIS and Westlaw are must. Advanced skills in Microsoft Office packages, especially MSWord is critical.
