Paralegal The Paralegal position serves a vital function in the legal department by performing a variety of support activities as well acting independently with little or no supervision to carry out the mission of firm. Will assist with substantive legal work of significant complexity. Responsible for the preparation of and reviewing and analyzing the responses by the organization to subpoenas, California Public Record Act Requests, investigative demands, and the coordination of meetings as the result of a legal process. Review and analyze contractual documents and draft contractual terms, which are consistent with federal and state law. Obtain, review, summarize and organize records as needed within the Legal Department. Perform routine communications with attorneys and other personnel about the status of projects and the preparation of assignments. Provide work product in a manner that shows a comprehensive understanding of the business needs of firm and be resourceful and reliable in handling and completing matters. Speak and read English at a level that is sufficient to satisfactorily perform the essential functions of the position. Knowledge of standard office equipment (i.e., calculator, fax, photocopier) and personal computer and computer software skills (i.e., MS Windows, Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint, internet, e-mail). Windows computer skills including proficient use of keyboarding, use of mouse or keys for functions such as selecting items, use of drop down menus, scroll bars, opening folders, copying and similar operations required upon employment or within the 1st two weeks of employment to perform the essential functions of the job. Performs other duties as assigned. Follows firm rules, policies, procedures, applicable laws and standards. Carries out the mission, vision, and quality commitment of firm. Certified Paralegal is preferred. Should have 4+ year degree and graduate from a paralegal program.
