Deputy Court Clerk The candidate: Performs a variety of administrative and clerical duties associated with the Judicial Division. Responds to inquiries made in person, by telephone and/or by mail. Provides legal information without providing legal advice. Accepts monies paid for filing, bonds, fines, restitution, court costs and/or other required/court-ordered payments. Updates records. Issues receipts. Forwards monies to local and/or state agencies/departments. Prepares monthly/quarterly reports regarding court revenues and expenditures. Responds to telephone and personal inquiries from defendants, law enforcement officers, attorneys, and related parties. Performs background checks for the Armed Forces, DCI, FBI, parole board and other authorized entities and individuals. Updates, maintains and/or forwards a variety of statistical, financial and/or other regularly scheduled/ad hoc reports. Works closely with Juvenile Probation regarding follow-up on juvenile matters. Enters citations issued by officers daily in Full Court. Attends court proceedings. Coordinates and prepares court calendars. Prepares cases for court and processes after court. Receives and receipts inmate bonds, inmate correspondence and warrants for non-completion of jail time. Issues bench warrants, subpoenas and other court-related documents. Notifies parties of case status and hearing dates. Impanels and polls jurors. Secures exhibits. Enters all parking citations in system. Collects monies. Maintains logs and records. Sends out notices for unpaid tickets. Performs other duties as assigned or required. May be required to work outside the traditional work schedule. May be subject to call out and/or call-back. Receives occasional instruction from Supervisor in regard to daily work duties. Works indoors in adequate work space, lighting, temperatures and ventilation. Works with average indoor exposure to noise, stress, and disruptions. Normal indoor exposure to dust/dirt. May be exposed to dangerous machinery, potential physical harm, hazardous chemicals, extreme weather conditions, infectious diseases and high noise levels. May be required to work outside the traditional work schedule on occasion. May be subject to call out and/or call-back. Should have a high school diploma or GED. Must have 3+ years of relevant clerical, secretarial, customer service, or closely related experience; one (1) year must be in the courts, law office, Police or Sheriff’s Office.
