Paralegal/Legal Assistant The candidate will assist attorneys and clients with family law cases including divorce, separation, custody, wills & estates, juvenile law, domestic violence, adoption, and CYFD matters. Open and close case files. Process eFilings. Communicate regularly with clients, adverse, court staff, and other parties. Calendar important dates. Conduct legal research and draft documents for attorney review. Communicate with potential clients about firm services.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have an Associate degree. Paralegal schooling or certificate or degree preferred; or relevant experience. At least 5 years of experience required. Prior work experience required as a paralegal, preferably in Family Law or Civil. New Mexico Driver's License required. Must have in depth understanding of legal terms and NM court rules & procedures. Experience drafting pleadings, correspondence, letters. Experience with court eFiling. Experience managing firm court calendar (Microsoft). Experience organizing trial notebooks or files, witness lists, exhibit lists. Experience drafting client discovery. Experience communicating with clients, providers, and court staff. Friendly and professional oral communication skills. Math skills – addition, subtraction, percentages. Experience with case management systems. Word and Excel Spreadsheet proficiency. Proficiency with Outlook calendar. Super attention to all details. Ability to type with accuracy. Must pass criminal background check, and drug test.
