Family Law Paralegal Duties: Prepares and drafts pleadings, motions, judgments, and other documents in support of Divorce, Legitimization, Custody, Modification and Contempt actions. Manages and develops system and processes to track and produce legal documents and status of cases. Conducts client interviews and gathers applicable information. Serves as a liaison between the client and attorneys. Interacts with the courts and administrative agencies. Prepares and reviews discovery packages, including disclosure statements, answers to interrogatories, and production requests. Prepares trial notebooks and provides assistance in trial settings. Assures that clientsâ€™ files are organized and ready in advance of court, mediation, or attorney meetings. Completes required forms such as DRFAs, Child Support Worksheets, Parenting Plans, etc. Performs preliminary legal research and other research in support of clientâ€™s case. Coordinates with legal assistants the firmâ€™s electronic calendar to ensure organization and accuracy. Coordinates and schedules hearings, mediations, and depositions. Attend and contribute to case strategy meetings with attorneys and clients.
Qualification and Experience
Candidate will have: Extensive experience and advanced knowledge in the area of family law. Ability to manage case life cycle, from initiation to settlement/final hearing. Highly skilled in legal research and preparing legal documents. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. The ability to manage work in a highly organized fashion. Proficiency in the use of MS Office (Word, Excel and Access).
