Director, E-Discovery
Duties: The candidate will serve as the operational leader of Center of Excellence, including managing several experienced team members. Advice on the design and implementation of practical discovery protocols and policy to help ensure consistent and efficient processes that mitigate risk across litigation, compliance, and regulatory. Partner and work collaboratively with in-house counsel, outside counsel, and vendors on all aspects of the EDRM. Serve as liaison between internal stakeholders and legal on discovery issues, including IT, Information Governance, and Legal Operations. Manage internal core competencies on the left side of the EDRM spectrum, including providing technical advice on indexing, collection, processing, and production of data. Identify, analyze, and address discovery issues and communicate such to stakeholders. Oversee discovery budgeting, tracking, status reporting, and managing to timelines. Track and report law firm and vendor metrics to drive value, quality, and cost-effectiveness. Maximize and capture value and cost savings across EDRM. Perform risk, efficiency, and cost assessments of E-Discovery processes, technologies, and providers to proactively manage risk points.



Qualification and Experience

Qualifications: A J.D. with Bar admission with a focused emphasis in case work on discovery issues. Self-motivated and independent, but able to discern when matters should be escalated and when further guidance is needed. Strong understanding of discovery process and impact within full litigation lifecycle. Experience leading teams and implementing change. Superior organizational and problem-solving skills. Project management experience, specifically managing multiple high exposure and fast-paced projects at the same time. Strong understanding of E-discovery tools and technology, including technology-assisted review. Ability to triage and manage time-sensitive matters simultaneously and effectively. Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, including ability to translate legal requirements as well as technical aspects of processing, forensic collections, and form of production issues to the business. Organizational acumen with the ability to tailor recommendations based on audience. Development of mission-driven department strategy. Lead an experienced professional staff. Manage an organizational budget. Utilizes broad and deep knowledge to develop innovative and practical new business practices, policies, and procedures. Lead highly complex projects of large scope. Projects are typically cross-functional and have significant and long-term impact. Consults with management to determine project objectives with long-term implications. Persuades others into agreement in sensitive situations while maintaining positive relationships.
