Assistant Attorney General (Domestic Violence Resource Prosecutor) Duties : Join an assignment as the Domestic Violence Resource Prosecutor. Serve as a critical member of the division. Work cooperatively with statewide partners (including the Crime Victims and Survivors Services Division (CVSSD) and the Attorney General's Sexual Assault Task Force) to develop, coordinate, and provide training programs for prosecutors, law-enforcement officers, service providers and others on issues of domestic violence, sexual assault and stalking. Also provide advice and assistance to prosecutors and, at times, handle the prosecution of family violence cases, including grand jury and trial proceedings. Responsible for developing training materials, best-practice policies, and other publications, as well as serving on councils, committees, and other groups as requested to assist in the development of a statewide approach to those issues. Assistant Attorneys General, on behalf of the Attorney General, represent the State of Oregon and officers and agencies of the State in most civil and many criminal proceedings. Work in virtually every area of legal practice including protecting children, fighting crime, defending criminal convictions, protecting consumers and the elderly, protecting firm's natural resources, fighting discrimination, defending the state and state employees, and providing legal advice to state agencies, officers and elected officials.
Qualification and Experience
Qualification : The candidate must have 5+ years' experience practicing as an attorney. Must have a JD degree from an accredited law school and be an active member of the Oregon State Bar at the time of appointment. Candidates from diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
