Insurance Defense Attorney -- Bodily Injury Are you looking to join Forbes’ 2023 Best Employer for Diversity? Progressive Insurance is seeking an Insurance Defense Attorney to join its bodily injury (BI) unit. As an attorney, you will be part of the motor vehicle insurance defense litigation team, providing legal representation to Progressive insureds and/or to the Progressive Insurance Companies before courts and arbitration panels in all aspects of litigation. ## Job Responsibilities - Handle cases from beginning to end - Prepare legal pleadings, motions, statements, trial briefs - Negotiate settlements - Prepare timely reports on litigation - Analyze written discovery, depositions, medical records - Assess the value of claims to determine risk exposure ## Qualifications - Juris Doctor degree or higher - Member of the Bar in jurisdiction(s) served by specific House Counsel office - 1-6 years’ experience in auto defense litigation or plaintiff’s personal injury; trial experience strongly preferred - Ability to identify risk, review and assess medical records, depositions, and other legal documents - Able to work independently with strong attention to detail along with the ability to organize and prioritize workload working with an electronic diary - Strong listening, verbal, and written communication skills - Ability to work effectively with clients and customers and negotiate on their behalf ## Compensation and Benefits - Salary: $89,900-$162,100/year - Gainshare bonus up to 40% of your eligible earnings based on company performance - 401(k) with dollar-for-dollar company match up to 6% - Medical, dental & vision, including free preventative care - Wellness & mental health programs - Health care flexible spending accounts, health savings accounts, & life insurance - Paid time off - Paid & unpaid sick leave where applicable, as well as short & long-term disability - Parental & family leave; military leave & pay - Diverse, inclusive & welcoming culture with Employee Resource Groups - Career development & tuition assistance ## Location This is a remote position with occasional travel to an office for a meeting and/or training. ## Equal Opportunity Employer Progressive Insurance is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
