The candidate's responsibilities include: Provides advice and legal services to Program Administrators and Departments in the following areas: Compacting and contracting; Policies and Procedures; Employment law; Corporate and administrative law; Real estate; Related matters routinely associated with in-house counsel duties for an Alaska Native Non-Profit organization. Reviews, drafts, and negotiates contracts and memoranda or agreements. Provides general legal support to the organization’s departments by providing legal analysis to questions raised. Works with Human Resources Director to identify and resolve current and potential risk/compliance issues, and other employee-related actions. Provides legal support and assistance to the General Counsel. Maintains strict confidentiality of all attorney, client and case information. Must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Must have a strong command of general legal principles and a basic understanding of applicable areas of practice. Must possess strong written, verbal and analytical skills and be able to work and communicate in a multi-cultural setting. Should have Juris Doctorate from an accredited U.S. Law school. License to practice law in the State of Alaska or ability become licensed within one (1) year of hire. Experience in non-profit, employment, transactional, or Indian law preferred.
