Responsibilities: Draft, review and negotiate contracts for a variety of services and develop contract templates. Develop, revise and mature contracting processes and policies and train management and executives on an ongoing basis. Handle multiple legal matters simultaneously and coordinate with others on regulatory, compliance, and operational issues. Stay apprised of important changes in law and regulation, and counsel senior attorneys and business leaders on such changes. Act as a resource to other members of the Legal Department. Provide direction to paralegals.
Qualification and ExperienceQualifications: Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school with a strong academic record. Admission to the Bar in the state of MN allows the ability to practice in MN within six months of hire. Should have 2+ years of legal experience in a law firm or healthcare organization. Strong analytical skills and ability to develop solutions and recommendations quickly and accurately. Excellent judgment and communication skills (both written and oral). Ability to prioritize projects, stay on task, and manage workload in a fast-paced work environment. Ability and willingness to assist with other projects as assigned by senior attorneys. Preferred Qualifications: Experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts. Primary focus on federal and state laws and regulations affecting the business of healthcare facilities including the Stark Law, Anti-kickback Statute, Anti-trust laws and HIPAA; state laws related to licensure include scope of practice Medicare, Medicaid conditions of participation. Secondary focus on laws pertaining to tax-exempt entities; research-related legal work including human subject research regulations.
