Duties:
- Lead and manage civil defense litigation cases, including first-chair courtroom litigation.
- Develop and implement defense strategies, including litigation plans and budgeting.
- Assess exposures, manage case costs, and navigate South Carolina substantive and procedural law and federal procedural rules.
- Conduct thorough research, analysis, and writing to support legal arguments and case development.
- Provide strong oral advocacy in courtroom settings and negotiations.
- Collaborate with clients to ensure satisfaction and build long-term relationships.
- Engage in case evaluation, negotiation, and settlement strategies.
Requirements:
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in insurance defense litigation.
- Proven experience in leading litigation cases and first-chair courtroom experience.
- In-depth knowledge of South Carolina's substantive and procedural law and familiarity with federal procedural rules.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to develop litigation strategies.
- Excellent research, writing, and oral advocacy skills.
- Demonstrated negotiation and case evaluation abilities.
- Client-focused mindset with strong interpersonal skills.
Education:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- Admission to the South Carolina Bar.
Certifications:
- Licensed and in good standing to practice law in the state of South Carolina.
