Administrative Intern - Law Clerk The candidate will assist the legislative liaison in representing the before the General Assembly. Generally speaking, the duties of this position include: attending legislative meetings at the Capitol, drafting memoranda concerning legislative proposals, conducting background research on legislative proposals and other legal items, assisting in preparing reports to be delivered to executive and legislative branches, and designing the agency presentation to legislative committees. Other responsibilities of this position may include assisting with rulemaking proceedings and aiding in legislative constituent customer service contacts. Should have some knowledge of legislative processes and procedures. More generally, the successful applicant will have good organizational and analytical skills, problem-solving abilities, and the ability to communicate both orally and writing. Under immediate supervision, on an internship appointment basis, performs a variety of tasks assisting administrative and/or technical program managers in developing data and documentation to meet organizational and program objectives and the requirements of the educational program in which enrolled; performs related work as required. Assists departmental officials to meet the organization's goals by performing a variety of tasks as assigned. Studies management and or technical programs to become familiar with methods and procedures and makes recommendations for improvements. Prepares and collects a variety of materials and reports in an assigned specialty by analyzing and evaluating routine statistical data and survey information. Confers with representatives of state agencies, the private business sector and/or the general public to obtain survey information or statistical data. Works in a variety of departmental areas to gain exposure to various situations and problems of varying scope and complexity. Prepares oral and written reports to support conclusions and recommendations for resolving problems. Works and communicates with internal and external clients and customers to meet their needs in a polite, courteous, and cooperative manner. Committed to quality service. Displays a high level of initiative, effort and commitment towards completing assignments efficiently. Works with minimal supervision. Demonstrates responsible behavior and attention to detail. Must be currently enrolled students in a degree program at an accredited educational institution, as determined by the Department of Administrative Services – Human Resources Enterprise.
