Job Overview:

A law firm in Philadelphia, PA, seeks a dedicated and detail-oriented Patent Agent to support its patent prosecution practice. The successful candidate will assist clients in protecting their technological innovations by drafting and prosecuting patent applications through the . Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and supporting due diligence efforts. This role demands a strong understanding of patent law and technical expertise in relevant scientific fields.

Duties:

  • Draft and prosecute patent applications through the USPTO.
  • Conduct thorough patent searches and analyses.
  • Prepare and file responses to Office Actions and other USPTO correspondence.
  • Assist with patent-related due diligence and freedom-to-operate analyses.
  • Collaborate with attorneys and clients to gather necessary technical and legal information.
  • Manage multiple assignments from various partners and clients, ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Review and analyze prior art and patent claims to assess patentability and infringement issues.
  • Provide technical and legal support in patent portfolio management and strategy.

Requirements:

  • 2-4 years of experience as a Patent Agent.
  • Master’s Degree or Doctor of Philosophy in organic chemistry, applied chemistry, polymer science, polymer engineering, biochemistry, or a related field.
  • Registered to practice before the . Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and Patent Bar eligible.
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines efficiently.
  • Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Education:

  • Master’s Degree or Doctor of Philosophy in organic chemistry, applied chemistry, polymer science, polymer engineering, biochemistry, or a related field.

Certifications:
