Office Of Campus Counsel The candidate will provides advice on the legal rights and obligations of the University to the Chancellor, and through the Chancellor to the Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor, vice chancellors, vice provosts, deans, department chairs, unit heads, and other academic and administrative officers of the campus. Provides coordination between the Offices of the Chancellor, the Office of the President, and the Office of the General Counsel concerning the legal needs and requirements of the Davis campus; acts on behalf of the campus at the direction of the Chief Campus Counsel; and undertakes legal assignments at the direction of the Chief Campus Counsel. Provides legal advice, consultation, and representation in response to a full range of legal issues associated with the administration, management, and operation of the firm Davis campus, with emphasis in laws, regulations and policies relating to privacy, technology law, electronic records and data breaches, cybersecurity matters, environmental health and safety, and research administration. Provides legal advice, consultation, and representation in response to a full range of legal issues associated with the administration, management, and operation of the firm Davis campus, with emphasis in laws, regulations and policies relating to privacy, technology law, electronic records and data breaches, cybersecurity matters, environmental health and safety, and research administration. Draft and analyze policies, contracts, grants, and other documents for legal sufficiency and consistency with University policies and procedures. Recognizes strategic needs of organization and proactively builds relationships with appropriate stakeholders to ensure successful outcomes. J.D. from an accredited law school and a member in good standing with the State Bar of California is required. Experience in legal research and effective writing concerning complex legal issues to create and deliver effective materials and/or presentations appropriate to a particular audience is required.
