Job Overview: A law firm is seeking a highly experienced Traditional Labor Of Counsel to join its team in Irvine, CA. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in handling various labor relations matters, providing legal advice to employers, and representing management in labor disputes and negotiations. This position requires exceptional analytical, communication, and organizational skills and a thorough understanding of federal and California labor laws.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Handle unfair labor practice charges at the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB)
  • Conduct legal research and writing
  • Represent management in NLRB elections
  • Provide legal advice to employers regarding union organizing, corporate campaigns, card checks, and neutrality agreements
  • Negotiate and provide legal advice regarding collective bargaining agreements
  • Handle grievance, arbitration, and unfair labor practice proceedings
  • Obtain mass picketing injunctions
  • Advise employers on federal and California wage and hour issues, leave management, disability accommodations, and other workplace issues
  • Review handbooks, policies, and forms for compliance with federal and state law
  • Review compensation, commission, and bonus plans
  • Conduct management training on labor relations, federal and California workplace issues, harassment, discrimination, and retaliation
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as reasonably assigned

Requirements:

  • JD from an ABA-accredited law school
  • Minimum of 9 years of litigation or advisory work as an attorney
  • Traditional labor experience preferred
  • Federal and California advice and counsel work preferred
  • Active CA Bar Admission
  • Understanding of current agency (state and federal) enforcement techniques preferred
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Active membership in the California State Bar
