A law firm is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Mid-Level Labor and Employment Associate Attorney to join their team in Dallas, TX. The ideal candidate will have 4-6 years of experience and demonstrable knowledge of employment law, including federal and state regulations. This position involves significant litigation work and requires strong interpersonal, analytical, and writing skills. The successful candidate will have the ability to manage cases independently and must be ready to engage in trial-related activities such as depositions, discovery, and hearings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day responsibilities of employment law cases, including litigation and client communication
  • Handle employment class actions, including trade secret and restrictive covenant cases
  • Conduct and defend depositions, and manage written discovery processes
  • Prepare persuasive briefs and other legal documents
  • Represent clients in hearings and trials, as well as in settlement negotiations
  • Interview witnesses and gather relevant facts for case preparation
  • Provide strategic advice to clients regarding employment policies, procedures, and compliance with labor laws
  • Maintain a strong understanding of relevant employment laws, including Title VII, ADA, ADEA, FMLA, and other federal and state regulations
  • Collaborate with partners and other associates on complex legal matters
  • Mentor junior associates and provide guidance on case preparation and strategy

Required Qualifications

  • 4-6 years of experience in labor and employment law
  • Demonstrable substantive knowledge of employment law, including:
    • Title VII of the Civil Rights Act
    • Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)
    • Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA)
    • Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA)
    • Similar federal and Texas state employment laws
  • Significant litigation experience, including trial participation and responsibility for cases
  • Strong academic credentials and professional references
  • Member of the Texas State Bar or willingness to quickly obtain membership

Education and Certifications

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
  • Active membership in good standing with the Texas State Bar (or eligibility to obtain)

  • Excellent writing, research, and analytical abilities
  • Keen attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Proactive initiative in case management and ownership of responsibilities

  • Effective verbal communication and courtroom presence
  • Willingness to take on trial-related responsibilities such as depositions, hearings, and witness interviews

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in handling employment class action lawsuits and restrictive covenant cases
  • Proven ability to manage complex litigation with minimal supervision
  • Experience mentoring junior attorneys
