Health Law In-House Counsel The candidate will be acting as a trusted advisor to the General Counsel, who is responsible for managing all Professional and General liability (PL/GL) claims, as well as being the lead counsel and resource on all regulatory, compliance, coverage, reimbursement and licensing operations and disputes related to the Skilled Nursing Facility, Home Health & Hospice, PACE, and Pharmacy clients that we serve. Will manage and, at times, litigate disputes under the Medicare and Medicaid programs, Department of Health and Human Services, and other federal and Pennsylvania state agencies, and will have oversight over agency audits, fraud and abuse counseling, and investigations and compliance issues. In addition to managing the PL/GL claims and taking the lead on all regulatory, compliance, coverage, reimbursement and licensing matters affecting the aforementioned entities, the Health Law In-house Counsel will also be responsible for assisting the General Counsel in addressing general legal questions from clients on topics which include litigation procedure and strategy, corporate law, workers compensation law, and contract law.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have Law degree from an accredited law school. Must be licensed to practice law in the state of Pennsylvania. Must have 3+ years of relevant health law legal experience (health care, long-term care, medical malpractice, etc.) whether that experience was in-house, with a law firm, or as a government attorney. Excellent communication skills and superior intuition are essential. Must successfully interact with various personalities at all organizational levels, including senior management and key external stakeholders. In addition to health law experience, prior medical malpractice defense litigation, workers compensation, and/or corporate law experience is preferred.
