ERISA Attorney/Staff Attorney Responsibilities: Complete legal research projects and present legal research findings. Write comprehensive findings and recommendations of basic legal research projects. Track proposed legislative and provide analysis on how initiatives that may affect client operations and administration of benefits. Draft written responses to requests related to plan provisions, letters, legal memoranda, and opinions; assists in investigations of benefit denials and reconsideration decisions; and responds to document requests. Provide consulting on retirement plan or IRA technical topics via the phones to internal and external clients. Assist with qualified 401(k), pension plan or IRA issues (including research and error corrections). Prove advice on ERISA fiduciary issues both internally and externally. Obtain continuing education credits to maintain licensure in at least one jurisdiction. Responsible for protecting, securing, and proper handling of all confidential data held to ensure against unauthorized access, improper transmission, and/or unapproved disclosure of information that could result in harm to clients.
Qualification and Experience
Requirements: JD Degree with strong academic credentials required. Special Consideration given to LLM. High level of analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong attention to detail. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to explain complex concepts in a clear, concise manner. Top quality research and writing skills. Ability to handle multiple priorities and work with minimal supervision. Knowledge of employment/labor law also a plus.
