Job Overview: A law firm seeks a dynamic Associate Attorney to join its team in Oakland, CA. The successful candidate will handle a diverse caseload across multiple practice areas, gaining invaluable experience in legal research, document drafting, litigation, and client representation.

Duties:

  • Conduct legal research and analysis on complex legal issues across various practice areas, including but not limited to Cannabis Law, Contracts & Public Works, Real Estate, and Environmental Law.
  • Draft legal documents, including briefs, contracts, pleadings, and motions for submission to the Supervising Attorney(s).
  • Analyze and summarize legal documents, contracts, and agreements, proposing necessary amendments.
  • Perform discovery, including gathering and reviewing electronically stored data and physical records in preparation for litigation.
  • Conduct due diligence in legal matters related to contracts and agreements.
  • Evaluate case outcomes using legal precedents and advise clients on legal strategies and liabilities.
  • Represent clients in court proceedings and before government agencies.
  • Develop case strategies and arguments, gathering evidence through client interviews and legal record examination.
  • Collaborate with legal specialists to formulate bases for legal proceedings and opinions.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with clients under the guidance of the Supervising Attorney(s).
  • Supervise Legal Secretaries and Paralegals as required.
  • Manage administrative tasks related to legal practice and complete assigned special projects.
  • Ensure compliance with firm policies and legal standards.

Requirements:

  • 2-7 years of relevant experience as an attorney.
  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Current license to practice law in California.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong negotiation and persuasive abilities.
  • Exceptional time management and organizational skills.
  • Attention to detail in legal document drafting and case management.
  • Proficiency in legal research tools and software.
  • Ethical conduct and commitment to legal profession standards.
  • Administrative and managerial experience preferred.
