Deputy City Attorney The candidate will provide duties include: Vertical prosecution of criminal cases involving unlicensed and unlawful Commercial Cannabis Activity from the filing of the criminal case through trial and appeal. Prosecution of civil cases involving unlicensed and unlawful Commercial Cannabis Activity as appropriate from the drafting and filing of the civil complaint through the conclusion of the civil case. Working cooperatively with prosecutors assigned to the various sections of the Safe Neighborhoods and Gang Division, and various Criminal Branch Offices, to effectively address issues involving unlicensed and unlawful Commercial Cannabis Activity. Working collaboratively with LAPD, the community and other stakeholders to address issues involving unlicensed and unlawful Commercial Cannabis Activity. Attending community meetings and making presentations regarding Commercial Cannabis Activity. Providing regular status reports to management regarding unlicensed and unlawful Commercial Cannabis Activity in the attorney’s assigned LAPD Bureau; and Maintaining current status log entries in the CNAP database and related databases.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate must have experience prosecuting misdemeanors. Must have the ability to manage and vertically prosecute a criminal caseload. Must have civil litigation experience. Must have excellent trial and oral advocacy skills. Must have excellent research and writing skills. Must have the ability to interface with a wide variety of members of the public, law enforcement, and the court system with tact, sensitivity and good judgment. Must be licensed to practice law in all courts in the State of California. Must have criminal appellate experience.
