The candidate will handle litigation, claims, bankruptcies, condemnations, real estate transactions (easements, sales, releases, easement abandonment, easement encroachment, etc.).Texas regulatory matters (rate cases, rate case expenses proceedings, Transmission Cost Recovery Factor filing, Transmission Cost of Service filings, CCN proceedings for new lines, amendments to certified territory, standard interconnection agreement filings, etc.) Responsible for completing certain external reporting as well as internal reporting for Texas legal . Supports the sole in-house attorney on a variety of routine contractual matters for TNMP (line attachment agreements, interconnection agreements, distributed generation agreements, franchise agreements, vendor agreements, etc.). Will perform a variety of duties to assist attorneys with (1) regulatory filings and proceedings including the preparation of filing packages and pleadings and the collection and production of discovery to administrative bodies and/or interveners; (2) franchise fee agreements and transactions with municipalities and other governmental entities; and (2) litigation matters, including discovery responses, researching and drafting legal memoranda and pleadings, and assisting with filings with courts. Assists with contracts and transactions, including confidentiality/nondisclosure agreements, rights-of-way with private parties, governmental and tribal entities, purchase and sale agreements, leases, professional and construction services agreements. Prepare regulatory filings and serve same on relevant parties. Coordinate document production and response to interrogatories on a company wide basis for litigated and regulatory matters. Conducts fact and legal research and investigations, locate cases, dispositions, opinions, reports, and information related to the matter at hand. Assists and coordinate with outside counsel in preparation of cases for trial or regulatory hearings by drafting and preparing: pre-trial orders, instructions to the jury, witnesses and exhibit lists, pre-hearing motions, subpoena witnesses, summarize depositions, expert witness notebooks, discovery, background materials, document indexes and lists. Prepare notices and communications related to company’s tariffed services. Should have familiarity with commercial and transactional matters. Should have thorough knowledge and understanding of administrative processes, public utility regulations and procedural rules. Should have specialized knowledge of legal and regulatory processes. Experience applying document processing software to compile large filings, discovery responses, and/or transactions. Should have ability to use computer tools applicable to word processing, litigation support, document search and retrieval. Must be experienced and proficient at legal research, and the use of research tools available in the department. Should have High school diploma or GED with 5-7 years related experience, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience related to the discipline. Should have Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university will be given preference.
